Taupo Horse Treks

At Taupo Horse Treks, we aim to provide a safe & enjoyable experience for all who ride with us. Whether your idea of fun, is a relaxing, quiet wonder through pine forest trails, or a more exciting gallop through the forest. We endeavor to provide either for you, in a safe and organized fashion.

We have a herd of 36 horses, all having their own delightful personality. Most of our horses are suitable for beginners, young or old, these horses are reliable & quiet. We also have a number of more advanced horses, for those with previous experience. You will be accompanied on your trek by one or more of our professional guides.
Our guides are capable, careful riders, with a good knowledge of our horses and their individual personalities. Our head guide Tracy is great with the children, usually providing some laughs, with her antics on horseback. We will take children as young as 5 years of age on their own horse on the treks, toddlers can double up with Mum or Dad.
We are situated within the forests of the Wairakei Tourist Park near the Craters of the Moon thermal reserve and the famous Huka Falls. just 8km north of Taupo's main street. Transport to Taupo Horse Treks is available with the HotBus which departs the i-site visitor centre every hour on the hour.
