A warm welcome awaits you in Verzeille, a small but lively wine village, nestling in the foothills of the Corbieres, close to the stunning Cite of Carcassonne in the heart of historic Pays Cathare.
My old village house is full of charm and character, with timbered ceilings, fireplace, stylishly decorated in Mediterranean colours with traditional French furniture throughout. There are 3 large individually decorated bedrooms with well appointed ensuite bath/shower rooms, and a 4th room for family or friends to share facilities.
Relax in the walled, perfumed garden or the large, comfortable lounge (cool in summer, with a cosy fire on chilly evenings) where you can share a drink or picnic meal in the evening, discuss your day and browse through books and information on the region, local history and art.
Jan, your host, is an art historian, amateur painter, textile and decorative artist, with a particular interest in local history and culture. She is always happy help you plan your itinerary, share secret places off the tourist route, or arrange a programme of visits and workshops for groups. Additional rooms are available for special interest and group holidays, together with a large bright studio/workshop and terrace overlooking the village rooftops, hills and distant Pyrenees.
