Places to Stay Things to Do Archer House |
Archer House is a Category 1 New Zealand Heritage Home, built in 1890 as an Italianate villa for Robert Taylor, a prosperous Westport grocer. It was used by the Sisters of Mercy from 1947 for 34 years, until Paul Archer bought and renovated it for accommodation.
Now offering three queen-size guestrooms, each with bathroom and original open fireplace, Archer House also retains leadlighting throughout and is furnished with antiques and artwork. A full cooked breakfast is served in the dining room or the guest conservatory looking out to the mature garden. The spaciousness of Archer House makes it suitable for weddings, private functions, and small business conferences, or the entire house can be booked for privacy. The town centre is a short stroll away. Weddings, functions & conferences catered for.
