B&B Options:
The Studio is self contained with queen bed & single bed, kitchenette, ensuite & private balcony.
The 2 Cottage Bedrooms are detached with each containing a queen bed & single bed, ensuite bathrooms tea/coffee making facilities & verandah.
Self-catering Option:
The Homestead is a large 2 storey house. With 5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms it is ideal for groups. A private sunny deck with gas barbeque leads into the open plan kitchen / dining / living area with logburner & an abundant supply of wood. The fully equipped kitchen ensures guests can create any culinary delight they can imagine. And the conservatory leading off the large living area contains a fooseball & window seats to lounge on.
Delight in the morning song of tui, kereru & korimako.
Fall asleep to the gentle "morepork" of ruru - our native owl.
The Homestead Makarora provides an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding temperate rain forests, national parks and scenic reserves. There are also a variety of adventure activities, such as jet boating, heli or fixed wing scenic flights, fishing & hiking.
Feed our tame deer Bernard & Nigel and "retired" pony Dudley Makarora Homestead provides a fun rural experience for any age.
Other information:
We are 40 minutes from Wanaka on SH 6 - the West Coast Road AND we are just over 1 hour from Haast. Rata Road is situated in Makarora West between the Wilkin River Jets office & Makarora Wilderness Resort. Makarora Homestead is the last driveway on the left on Rata Road. |
