Places to Stay Things to Do LAVENDER GARDEN TEA ROOMS & ACCOMMODATION |
Two luxury country cottages named "1210" and "1243" located in the grounds of the Tea Rooms at the historic, English-like village of Lake Bathurst (1826), 20 minutes south of Goulburn. Overlooking a landscaped garden, the cottages completed in February 2003, offer self-contained private accommodation for 2 couples ideal for a special country escape or romantic getaway. Both are spacious with large ensuite bathrooms (heat lights)and fully equipped kitchens (fridge/freezer, microwave, cook top), TV, gas heating and ceiling fans.
The cottages are named after two well known NSW heritage steam locomotives and blend in with other railway history and memorabilia at the Tea Rooms including the original 1884 Lake Bathurst Waiting Room now used as a small museum.
The Tea Rooms, adjoining what was originally built in 1919 as the St. John's Church hall, are open weekends and public holidays from 10.00am to 5.00pm catering for light meals, refreshments, Devonshire Teas and cappuccinos. The Gift Shop offers a wide range of lavender products including pure local oil from a field of over five hundred English lavender plants.
Historic tours are available which take in the village, a private collection of motoring memorabilia with its vintage petrol bowser display, The Lake itself and World War ll Fuel Stores tucked away at the end of the village. Advance bookings are essential. Coach groups are welcome any time by arrangement. |
