Annfield, originally built in 1866, has around 17 acres of ground, of which five acres have been converted to the commercial growing of flowers, mainly gentians and lilacs.
The rest is still in pasture with alpacas and coloured sheep. The house has been renovated, from foundations to roof, with the old character being kept and the convenience of modern facilities added. The garden is still being developed.
There are a dog and a couple of cats around. They have only limited access to the house.
There is good trout fishing - in season - an easy distance away. We are just over 1 km from the Southern Scenic Route, west of Invercargill, signposted to Waianiwa/Drummond.

Our homestay is located on an eco-friendly, privately owned, managed and protected forest & wetland reserve on the edge of the New River Estuary. We have been restoration planting since 1992 and have a zero carbon footprint.

Predator mammals are under constant control on the resrve, which has increased bird populations significantly. Fernbirds can often be seen very close to the boardwalk and heard calling from the house on a still evening. We get reliable views for 99% of watchers. Good numbers of tui and bellbird provide a dawn chorus from our 2 guest rooms and can be seen feeding 1 metre away from the breakfast table. Fantails follow along the walk taking insects on the wing and grey warblers are easily seen. An Australasian Harrier roost nearby draws numbers of hawks back each night.

We are only 10 minutes drive from Invercargill, 5 minutes to airport, 25 minutes to Bluff port. Our homestay is ideal for stopping over before or after Stewart Island, Catlins or Fiordland. Start your NZ holiday from here, recover from jet lag surrounded by nature.

Notes: Lance and I live only 3 minutes walk from Lake Manpouri, gateway to Doubtful Sounds. Enjoy breakfast to the sound of bellbirds, tuis and many other birds in the mature trees around our self contained guest cottage. Relax in front of the open fire later in the day.

Te Anau is the departure point for Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound, The Glow Worm Caves, The Milford Track, Routeburn Track, Kepler Track and Dusky Track.

Greenbush is situated 50kms from Invercargill, 60kms from Bluff where you catch the ferry to Stewart Island. We are 4kms off the Southern Scenic Route at Fortrose on the way to Waipapa Point Lighthouse, Slope Point (the most southerly point of the South Island) & Curio Bay. We have a sheep farm on the edge of the Pacific Ocean where you may stroll our wild beach. Our 1920's villa is nestled in a well established 2 acre garden where you can wake up to birdsong or just relax in the surroundings. We are the fourth generation on the farm.
